Nurses for Newborns – Tennessee
We are working to make sure families of all babies in Middle Tennessee receive the healthcare, education, and support they need to thrive.

A Stronger Start
1 in 11 babies in Tennessee don’t reach their first birthday. Nurses for Newborns is working to change that. NFN supports families most at risk of experiencing trauma in the first years of an infant’s life. We work with caregivers of medically fragile babies, mothers with medical, mental health, or substance use concerns, and teenage parents needing assistance to help ensure a strong start for their newborn.
Our Approach
NFN is a free home visitation program, partnering with families to ensure the baby is safe and healthy and the caregiver is strong and confident in their care.

Resource Support
“As a neonatologist taking care of the most vulnerable infants, I am deeply attuned to the critical need this organization fulfills for Middle Tennessee. In addition to the support and medical care, Nurses for Newborns provides education and guidance to families to assist them in accessing other resources in the community making it a unique model. For the past decade, I have witnessed the impact Nurses for Newborns can have in the lives of vulnerable children and their families.”
