Since April, we have expanded our team! We are excited to welcome two RNs to our nursing team and two team members to our development team.

NFN welcomes new team members
NFN’s new team members:
LaQuinsha, Mallory, Akua, and Melanie

LaQuinsha joined our nursing team in April and will be serving families in Davidson County. She comes to us with over 24 years of combined labor and delivery, newborn nursery, postpartum, and pediatric experience and extensive public health experience. LaQuinsha has her BSN and MBA and is a certified family planning worker.

“I’m excited to have joined the team because it gets me back to my first loves—mommas and babies!”

Mallory joined our development team in July as the Communications and Outreach Manager. This is a new position for the organization, and she will be leading our communication efforts and helping to expand the program’s referring and partner networks. For over 13 years, Mallory has worked with nonprofits and organizations in both program management and communications capacities. She holds a BA in English from Trevecca Nazarene University.

“As a Nashville native, a writer, and a former birth doula, I’m so excited to join a team that is supporting mothers and infants in Middle TN. I look forward to leading NFN’s communications and outreach efforts and helping to create change for families in our community.”

Akua joined our team in June as our new Development Coordinator. She is a senior at Vanderbilt University, where she is majoring in Political Science with double minors in Sociology and African American Diaspora Studies. Akua has spent the last four years working with nonprofits, driven by a deep passion for social impact and community well-being.

“I’m excited to be part of NFN because it aligns perfectly with my commitment to serving underserved communities. I look forward to applying my experience in nonprofit development to help NFN expand its reach and impact, ensuring that every newborn and their family has the opportunity to thrive!”

Melanie joined our nursing team in April and will be serving families in Davidson County. She brings over 17 years of nursing experience, with a passion for supporting families with babies in or coming out of the NICU. Melanie has her BSN and is a certified personal trainer.

“So many times I’ve wished that I could follow my patients home to continue to support them and their families. I’m so happy to have joined the Nurses for Newborns team because now I can!”
